Loop Huascaran: Cordillera Blanca Epic MTB

Get ready for the ultimate mountain biking experience in Peru: the Loop Huascarán. This route isn’t just the most challenging, it’s also the most epic in the entire Cordillera Blanca, offering you an unforgettable adventure amid the grandeur of the Peruvian Andes.

Day 1: Among Giants and Panoramic Views

Your journey begins in Huaraz, with vehicle support taking you through the astonishing Quebrada de Llanganuco, a natural setting guarded by the imposing peaks of Nevado Huascarán (the highest summit in the Peruvian Andes, at 6768 m.a.s.l.), as well as Chopicalqui, Chacraraju, Pisco, Yanapaccha, and the Huandoy peaks. The dirt road ascends and zigzags until reaching the emblematic Portachuelo de Llanganuco pass at 4780 meters (15600 feet), a viewpoint offering simply spectacular sights. From this elevated point, we begin a thrilling descent to the picturesque town of Yanama, where we’ll spend the night in a cozy lodge.

Day 2: Legendary Descent and Wonders of Andean Engineering

Vehicle support will be available at the start of the second day, which challenges us with the ascent to Paso Pupash at 4050 meters (13280 feet). Afterward, an exciting descent begins along a dirt road to Acochaca, at 2800 meters (9180 feet). From this point, our bikes are transported by our support vehicle to the Túnel de Punta Olímpica at 4680 meters (15350 feet), one of the highest vehicular passes in the world. At 1384 meters (4540 feet) long, it’s an experience that complements the thrill of the descent that follows. We consider this point the cherry on top—you’ll have to see it to believe it! The day culminates with a spectacular and exciting descent on an asphalt road, taking you directly to the warm city of Carhuaz (2600 meters).

This tour is the definition of a mountain biking adventure, designed for those looking to push their limits, connect deeply with the nature of the Peruvian Andes, and collect memories that will last a lifetime.
